5. Among fluorine-lined butterfly valves, the wafer-type body design is particularly advantageous, as it is clamped between two pipeline flanges. A key advantage of this structure is that the bolts securing the mating flanges carry all tensile stresses caused by pipeline tension, while the wafer body itself is placed under compression. The internal medium pressure generates additional tensile stress that relieves this compression. In contrast,flanged valves which must withstand both pipeline tension and internal pressure-induced tension. Given that most metals have a compressive strength approximately twice their tensile strength, the wafer-type butterfly valve is recommended solution.
